The job title seems to have disappeared now.<br /><br />But I did work in a place where there was (and AFAIK) still is a very similar role. It was at a financial institution where we had to take price feeds from various exchanges around the world. <br /><br />We had what we called a feed analyst. They pretty much did the work you described. It was very useful for us developers to let the analyst do the early nit-picking on specs from the exchange, and to manage the relationship with the exchange.
