I never meant to say "Agile ignores testing" - it most definitely does not.

What I meant to say - as Steve suggests - is that a lot of Agile literature and processes ignore Testers and their role.

Sorry for any confusion.allan kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06262139490250478379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12948038.post-53382945513071087832008-06-09T14:58:00.000+01:002008-06-09T14:58:00.000+01:00I have to cast this slightly differently and disag...I have to cast this slightly differently and disagree that Agile ignores testing: it may ignore testers, but that's usually a sign of a group that's "Agile-but..." (which means not really Agile).

One of the striking features of the Agile movement is the way it's brought testing into the fold. The literature and the conferences are full of testers and their works. It's true that developers tend to know everything, but Agile is nothing if not a recognition that there's much more to delivery than coding.

There's a class of "rote" manual testing that shouldn't have much of a place on an Agile team, it should just be automated, but there's a much more influential role for "intelligent" testing than has traditionally been the case. Test specialists who add real value have a bright future on Agile projects.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
